Nomenclature for SQL files

Notes:

1. Every structure will be divided by an underscore: ‘_’.

2. Do not use the USE reserved word in sql to start a script:

a. Because the batch file recognize which data base has to query

3. Add the sql file to the corresponding folder

a. SQL folder: belongs to Vartopia_ MVS DB

b. SQL_DataMart folder: belongs to Vartopia_MVS_DataMart DB

c. SQL_DataMartStage folder: belongs to Vartopia_MVS_DataMartStage DB

d. SQL_Integration folder: belongs to MVS_Integration DB

 

Structure:

1. Target Release

2. Sequence 

3. RM Number

4. Type of transaction

a. UPDATE

b. DELETE

c. INSERT

d. ALTER

e. DROP

f. CREATE

g. etc.

5. Brief description

 

Example:

A Redmine (http://rm.vartopia.com/redmine/issues/5981) has an associated script called ‘5.1_010_RM5981_UPDATE_DeactivatedLOVinDistyList.sql’ and is scheduled for release in 5.1.9. The script name is built from the following sections, each separated by ‘_’:

· Target Release: 5.1

· Sequence: 010

· RM Number: RM5981

· Type of transaction: UPDATE

· Brief description: DeactivatedLOVinDistyList

 

 

Notice that the ‘Target Release’ does not have the last dot and the last number, ‘.9’ in this case.
